I have 8 new songs for you!
I’ve recorded a few songs of mine with producer / arranger and guitarist Steve Bill.
These songs were approached in a very different way than I had ever worked before. Because Steve has worked with pop arrangement at the very highest level all his life, these songs have more than a touch of polish! His career overflows with contemporary music arrangement – he plays at the Grammy's every year, he has done musical supervision for countless TV shows, including Dancing With The Stars, he's recorded thousands of jingles, he conducts, orchestrates big bands – but what impresses me the most: he toured with Burt Bacharach on guitar!
The arranger is the Melody Protector. It is their job to defend the vocals and the shape of the tune at all costs. This production is not about a sonic trip, it's not about solos, it's not about a band sound. In the world of rock and roll that I come from, the band barrels into the studio and if the singer doesn't think they're prominent enough, you fix it in the mix. That is how rock music works by and large, and god bless it – I love it – and will return to it. But with these recordings, I wanted to have my melodies and vocals treated like I was Dusty Springfield…
or at least some contemporary pop chick in Nashville. I feel that we came up with some amazing results. My songs are happy! Hope you will enjoy them.
